I don’t normally wish LSU well, but I’ll be cheering them on this Saturday.
LSU’s uniforms for Saturday night’s game against Mississippi State are part of a special 1918 tribute. And they feature purple helmets that change colors.
The No. 5 Tigers are paying homage to the lost season of that year; LSU didn’t play 100 years ago because of World War I and Saturday night’s all-white uniforms don’t have names on the back for those unknown soldiers that were lost in the war.
The school has a grove of oak trees on campus that pays tribute to those who died in the war and yYou can see a pattern of oak leaves in the purple trim and numbers on the jerseys.
