It’s truly amazing what some folk can do with a camera. The above by Sølve Sundsbø was found, alone with others, here.
The Appropriate Response
Put’n Out the APB/BOLO
Snatched from the Patriot Retort, and while a perfectly appropriate meme of these two airheads, as a nation we should demand that every member of congress, the administrations, and the zillion faceless government bureaucrats be required to use this image as a screen saver.
A Special Place
Saturn Devouring His Son by Francisco Goya.
It depicts the Greek myth of the Titan Cronus, who, fearing that he would be overthrown by one of his children, ate each one upon their birth.
Just because evil was once depicted in a mythological story doesn’t mean it isn’t real. There is a place in hell for those, who as a matter of convenience, slaughter the defenseless.

Busy, Busy
Postings have been nonexistent over the last couple of days as I’ve been busy getting the winter work done in the garden. Some of that work took quite a bit of research and, despite my killer analytical skills, I should have researched a little more.
I did manage to get 4 apple trees in the ground along with 3 each peach, pear, and plum. The research involved determining which variety each required which ‘pollinator’. These had to align with my taste in fruit. Finally nailed it all down and was able to find all that I needed at a nursery between Huntsville and Madison in Alabama. I put these trees as shown in the diagram below.
The large square in the diagram is my garden (60 by 120) Mid size boxes are large planting areas where crop is rotated from one to the other. The small boxes are 4 X 12 raised bed planting boxes, there are 27 of them.
So, between getting the fruit trees in, planting 6 blueberry bushes, cleaning up the mess in garden that was left over from last year, and feeding the cattle I’ve had little time to post.

Thoughts
A few weeks back I mentioned that there were several thousand courses that could be taken free on line. I finished the photography series (the verdict is still out on the utility) and am now taking a series of courses that compare and contrast science, religion, and philosophy. These courses focus not only on the domains each purport to occupy, but also the compatibility of each with the other two.
Those who hold that science is the premier approach to understanding life and the world seem to hold the high ground. To them science is their god and there is no other God. For them there is no capital ‘G’ God. For my part, when science can explain what a ‘thought’ is, how it forms and influence, and where it goes once it is thought, then I’ll allow that science may intrude into religion’s space. Until then, I’ll just play with my thoughts.

OK, That’s Cool
Employees at the Hvaleyrarvöllur golf course in Hafnarfjörður (Iceland) arrived to an usual site on Friday, RÚV reports: naturally formed rolls of snow all over the frozen green.
According to meteorologist Óli Þór Árnason, such rolls form through a unique combination of specific weather conditions. On Thursday, he explained, it snowed, and then the temperature rose by one or two degrees and little drops of rain fell over the golf course. When that happened, the top layer of the snow got wet, right as the wind kicked up, and that’s how the rolls were shaped.
“It’s a bit of a coincidence—everything needs to happen at the same time,” he said. “[H]umidity and wind, in order for [the snow] to start rolling itself.”
Freedom Has a Price
Baruch Pletner wrote an interesting article a short while back that pondered on the intersect of genetics and social interaction. I normally don’t read anything, or for that matter give any credence to, someone that feels it is important to follow his name with PhD and then MBA. In this case I looked past he egotism.
It begins: We, members of the species Homo Sapiens, the thinking man, love freedom, right? Wrong. The freedom loving gene is so dangerous that had it been prevalent in the Homo Sapiens population, we would have long since gone extinct. Contrary to the self-aggrandizing lies we like to tell ourselves, it is the slavery gene, the gene that makes it possible for us to survive and even thrive in conditions of bondage that is by far the most prominent feature of our species.

Seven? Seven degrees on Wednesday evening for my little place here on the Tennessee/Alabama line. That’s damn nippy. Here is the historical reference (where ‘today’ is Wednesday of next week):
I won’t be alone with this misery, looks like half of the nation is going to get spanked.
It also looks as if the cold has it’s old companion–snow. Y’all stay safe.

Pondering on the Third Saying
Gospel of Thomas per the Lambdin translation:
(3) Jesus said, “If those who lead you say to you, ‘See, the kingdom is in the sky,’ then the birds of the sky will precede you. If they say to you, ‘It is in the sea,’ then the fish will precede you. Rather, the kingdom is inside of you, and it is outside of you. When you come to know yourselves, then you will become known, and you will realize that it is you who are the sons of the living father. But if you will not know yourselves, you dwell in poverty and it is you who are that poverty.”
Topic isolated:
When you come to know yourselves, then you will become known, and you will realize that it is you who are the sons of the living father
Moved from the future to the present (mostly) and simplified:
Know yourself and become known. You are the sons of the living father
Greatly simplified:
Know yourself, you are the son of the living father.

Which mainstream ideas pose the greatest threat ….. Global capitalism, of course. Individual materialism, obviously. But more and more a sort of Laissez-Faire Nihilism, the one exemplified by clever young people “Who wants to have children in a world going to hell?”, and interestingly, even though they call themselves Progressives and outwardly profess undying faith in humanity (despite all the problems they cause and the distresses they must be able to see in their own communities), the main culprit of this are the Globalists themselves.
There are no more rabid doom-mongers than the “save the rain forest” crowd. I forgot who said it, but “forget the war on terrorism, the most important war of our time is the war between the sexes, a war that we are all losing.” In a way I agree, in the way that the hidden enemy is always the one able to inflict the most damage: Feminism is the greatest danger to our civilization. By twisting facts, by a concentrated propaganda effort, the image has been planted into the minds of women that history was sexist, that the church was anti-women and that women can be…better than men.
In reality it is the couple, the man and the woman together, who make up the basic bond of humanity. The day we finally give up on this idea of love, is the day our civilization is doomed forever. “Love is reactionary”, and “Progressivism is centrifugal”
