Discovering the Tooth Fairy is Fake
The Week has an excellent article on the probable outcome and impact of the Mueller investigation. It begins with: “Perhaps the best argument I have seen in favor of repealing President Trump’s pointless tax cuts is the superabundance of disposable income American liberals apparently spend on things like Robert Mueller bobble-head dolls, “Mueller is Coming” and “It’s Mueller time” T-shirts, Mueller “prayer” candles, and even children’s books featuring a super-buff bare-chested but tie-wearing Mueller lookalike hero. Turning the affectless head of a special counsel investigation into some kind of badass comic-book character who is going to rescue America from the nefarious clutches of — I wish I were making this up — “President Ronald Plump” could not be more childish. Goodness knows how many adults really believe all this stuff.”
Matthew Walther continues with “I feel bad for them, in the way that I feel bad for kids who are about to discover that the Tooth Fairy is fake.”
Astroturf: Paid Protesting is a Big Business
Crowds on Demand, a Beverly Hills company that’s an outspoken player in the business of hiring protesters, boasts on its website that it provides its clients with “protests, rallies, flash-mobs, paparazzi events and other inventive PR stunts. … We provide everything including the people, the materials and even the ideas.”
But according to a lawsuit filed by a Czech investor, Crowds on Demand also takes on more sordid assignments. Zdenek Bakala claims the company has been used to run an extortion campaign against him.
Bakala has accused Prague investment manager Pavol Krupa of hiring Crowds on Demand to pay protesters to march near his home in Hilton Head, S.C., and to call and send emails to the Aspen Institute and Dartmouth College, where Bakala is on advisory boards, urging them to cut ties to him. Bakala alleges that Krupa has threatened to continue and expand the campaign unless Bakala pays him $23 million.

The Last Days of the Dinosaur
Michael Moore (64-year-old white male) remarks on the dying out of white males. His words:
“What you need to understand about the U.S. now, is that it is changing very quickly,” he explained. “Right now a little over two-thirds of the country who are eligible to vote, are either women, people of color, or young adults between 18-35. That’s the majority of America right now.”
“And they will determine the direction of the country,” he continued. “These are the last days of the dying dinosaur, the old white man who has been making the decisions since the beginning of our time.”
11th Saying in the Gospel of Thomas
Jesus said, “This heaven will pass away, and the one above it will pass away. The dead are not alive, and the living will not die. In the days when you consumed what is dead, you made it what is alive. When you come to dwell in the light, what will you do? On the day when you were one you became two. But when you become two, what will you do?”

Complete and Inevitable Failure of Gun Laws
“If gun laws in fact worked, the sponsors of this type of legislation should have no difficulty drawing upon long lists of examples of crime rates reduced by such legislation. That they cannot do so after a century and a half of trying — that they must sweep under the rug the southern attempts at gun control in the 1870-1910 period, the northeastern attempts in the1920-1939 period, the attempts at both Federal and State levels in 1965-1976 —establishes the repeated, complete and inevitable failure of gun laws to control serious crime.”

So You’re Telling Me There’s a Chance
Clinton, despite her enormous flaws and two presidential defeats, can’t be ruled out as the party’s best hope for 2020. God knows she wants it more than anybody else.
She is keeping her options open and might actually seek a rematch with Trump.
Her madness reminds me of this:
She and Bill Clinton have announced their six-month speaking tour. The gambit is designed to keep her name front and center without having to declare herself a candidate. Her recent phone calls to White House reporters also signal her plan.
The official word is that attempts to silence her are doomed. Brace yourself — she’s baaaack!

The Deer Stand
I’ve finished getting my deer stand in and stabilized. Because I will be using this stand to bow hunt, I wanted to make sure that it was well concealed. Here is how it came out.
Now a photo where it can be seen. The seat is 18 feet off of the ground, the shooting rail is at a little over 19.
Finally, here is a view from that portion of the property looking south. While the bow will be used in the wooded area near the stand, I’ll be using a M1A (308) once gun season opens. It’s about 600 yards from where I was standing when I took the picture to the trees in the distance.

Qualitative Difference in Firepower
“One of the arguments that had been made against gun control was that an armed citizenry was the final bulwark against tyranny. My response had been that untrained, lightly-armed non-soldiers couldn’t prevail against a modern army. I had concluded that the qualitative difference in firepower was such that all of the previous rules of guerilla war no longer applied. Both Vietnam and Afghanistan demonstrated that wasn’t true. Repelling an armed invasion is not something that American citizens are likely to face, but the possibility of a despotic government coming to power is not wholly unthinkable. One of the sequellae of Vietnam was the rise of the Khmer Rouge and slaughter of perhaps a million Cambodian citizens. Those citizens, like the Jews in Germany or the Armenians in Turkey, were unarmed and thus utterly and completely defenseless against police and paramilitary. An armed minority was able to kill and terrorize unarmed victims with total impunity.”

Classic Saban
With Alabama up 42-14 at halftime on the road against Tennessee, Nick Saban headed into the tunnel and was doused with a cup of ice thrown from the stands.
When asked about the event. we get classic Saban: “The ice doesn’t bother me at all,” Saban said. “I’d rather have somebody upset when we’re playing on the road than happy about the circumstances.”

An Inconvenient Truth
Adam Schiff lit into Congressman Tom MacArthur over some words he had for his Korean-American opponent. Schiff fired one of those ‘thou art racist’ cheep shots at MacArthur. Only one small problem; MacArthur is the adoptive father of two South Korean girls.
MacArthur’s response: “Adam Schiff thinks he’ll get power by stoking fear, division and anger in this country,” MacArthur told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “His absurd and false tweet that I made a racist comment about my Korean-American opponent overlooks one sort of obvious and for him, rather inconvenient, truth. I’m the father of two children whom Debbie and I adopted from South Korea as babies. I am now the proud ‘Papa’ of my first Korean-American granddaughter.”
21st Saying in the Gospel of Thomas
Mary said to Jesus, “Whom are your disciples like?”
He said, “They are like children who have settled in a field which is not theirs. When the owners of the field come, they will say, ‘Let us have back our field.’ They (will) undress in their presence in order to let them have back their field and to give it back to them.
Therefore I say, if the owner of a house knows that the thief is coming, he will begin his vigil before he comes and will not let him dig through into his house of his domain to carry away his goods. You, then, be on your guard against the world. Arm yourselves with great strength lest the robbers find a way to come to you, for the difficulty which you expect will (surely) materialize.
Let there be among you a man of understanding. When the grain ripened, he came quickly with his sickle in his hand and reaped it. Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.”

This summer I took a picture of one of the many wild Spider Lilies that we have growing around the farm. It is immediately below. The two images that follow are the same picture that have been modified using paint.net. Both mods are using the ‘Tile Reflection’ tool/utility. Tried to post these earlier, but the image size was so large they would not upload. Enjoy!

Checking Her Privilege
Chelsea Handler interviewed with ABC’s Ellen DeGeneres the other day, she obviously loathes herself. Good news for Chelsea, we loathe her too! In part, here is what she had to say
“I just started to think about all the privilege I’ve benefited from in this industry, specifically — being a Jew is a bonus, being a girl as a comedian when I was coming up,” she explained. “I had every advantage. Every door opened for me.”
“When I started to look around at people that don’t have as successful of a career or are working twice as hard to achieve the same things, I started to feel very gross about myself. On a very fundamental level, I wanted to explore it further … [starting] with my own white privilege. I’ve been badly behaved for 20 years and getting tons of money thrown at me for being a loudmouth. You could say I’m talented, but you could also say I’m not talented.”
I’ll choose the latter Chelsea, you are not talented.

Justly Considered
“The right of the citizens to keep and bear arms has justly been considered, as the palladium of the liberties of a republic; since it offers a strong moral check against the usurpation and arbitrary power of rulers; and will generally, even if these are successful in the first instance, enable the people to resist and triumph over them.”

Buying Votes Ahead of 2020
American families making less than $100,000 a year could be eligible for a monthly tax credit of up to $500, or $6,000 a year, under new legislation announced Thursday by Democratic U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris of California.
Individuals making less than $50,000 would be eligible for up to $250 a month, $3,000 a year.
“Americans are working harder than ever but stagnant wages mean they can’t keep up with cost of living increases,” Harris, a likely presidential candidate in 2020, said in a statement.
Harris’ office cited a 2017 survey from the website Bankrate.com that found more than half of Americans cannot afford a $500 unexpected expense, such as a rent increase, medical bill or child care.
