Pocahontas on the Web

It was bound to happen, someone beat Lizi to registering the site elizabethwarren.co (no ‘m’ in com). Great parody site that looks pretty well done. You can find it here.

Whenever

Whenever the news of the day begins to drag me down I remember that it’s not news, it’s the media’s attempt to manipulate me into giving up. So, when ever I feel this way I glance back at things like this. As late as 10 p.m. on 11/7/16 we were still being fed the manipulator’s drivel.

Another Trivia Game with AOC

Sniveling Occasional Cortex tweeted a complaint about the minimum wage and compared it to the price of a croissant. It read:

” Croissants at LaGuardia are going for SEVEN DOLLARS A PIECE,” she tweeted. “Yet some people think getting a whole hour of personal, dedicated human labor for $15 is too expensive??

The minimum wage at LaGuardia is actually $19 an hour. Once again, everything about this idiot is wrong. It’s just one long trivia game where she misstates something and we are challenged to show just how wrong she is.

Things Are Often Not What They Appear

Breitbart is running a story about the liberal that smacked down a conservative on the UC Berkley campus. Seems that neither of the folk involved were students.

A university spokesperson said that the school’s police department has identified a potential suspect, and they don’t believe he is a student. He also confirmed that the victim is not a student at, or affiliate of the University, and had joined members of a student group as a member of an advocacy training program. Full story here.

Ooops

Fox News got a little ahead of the game this morning and showed the graphic above during a news cast. I can imagine what Ruth must have thought if she saw it before Fox noted the error and issued an apology.

The Lying Scum

AP Photo

According to the version of events widely circulated in the leftist media, a Native American elder was variously “taunted,” “mocked,” and “harassed” by a “mob” of “non-Native teen boys” in MAGA hats. Supposedly, they surrounded him and blocked his passage.

This whole story exposes the left as lying, cry-bullying, vindictive, shrill, ugly hate machine it is. While we knew they were all of these things, what becomes more clear is how willing society was to sign on to their lying; everyone from the Catholic Church to the school that the kids attend wasted no time in piling on. That the version of events in the media did not happen had/has little to do with the virtue signalling idiots.

What is clear from the unedited footage of the event is that the boys did little wrong. Far from surrounding this supposedly innocent “Native American elder veteran,” as he has been sanctimoniously billed by the left, it was he who approached them and began drumming right in their faces.

The “elder” is Nathan Phillips, a Vietnam vet with a long history of political activism, hardly someone who didn’t know exactly what he was doing; nor someone who was likely to be intimidated by a group of high school kids.

All the high school kids did in response was to smile, stand their ground, and sing along with the drumming. This is hardly an aggressive or unreasonable response, especially when they were being provoked not just by the “Native American elder,” but also by a group of left-wing black activists nearby.

The Outrage of the Played

Yesterday marked the 1st anniversary of my retirement date. Retirement is great not only because I no longer have to drag my ass into work each day but also because it allows me the time and freedom to contemplate this beautiful existence God has created.

So, after some contemplation that retirement has afforded me, I’ve come to the conclusion that all of the major broadcast news outlets have become very effective at hooking their individual audiences through outrage.  Outrage is a very powerful emotion, and when evoked generates chemical reactions that can, I suppose, become quite addictive.

Fox news had a major segment on a sculpture of Mickey D on a cross this morning. They were suitably outraged and demanded that we be outraged as well (else-wise, how could we be a good Christian?).

This is not news. It’s one of the many doses of ‘soma’ you’ll receive today.

So many of the news articles produced on Fox or CNN or MSNBC or whoever are not really news events at all, rather they are events specifically selected, slanted and broadcast to generate outrage in their audience.  That outrage produces an addictive chemical in the viewer and he/she returns to the source of that outrage to get another ‘fix’.  In short, we’re all being played.  Our soma is outrage and it is dished out by powerful forces who are more interested in obtaining power and wealth than in producing evenhanded reporting

We are reinforced in our conservativism (or liberalism) by bad people who know exactly how to press the right emotional buttons.  Watch, assess, become emotionless at what is being spoon fed to you and see if the world does not become a more intriguing and less unsettled place.

The Donald Does Time-Travel

Brit Hume, Fox’s senior political analyst, schooled Soledad O’Brien over her crowing about liberal outlets having forced President Trump’s Wednesday visit to U.S. troops in Iraq, “congratulating” her for noting that Trump had invented time travel.

CNN, other liberal outlets, and activist-celebrities had noted throughout Christmas Day and into Wednesday that the Donald did not visit U.S. service members for Christmas, as has become custom for recent U.S. presidents, especially during the war on terrorism.

Mr. Hume highlighted tweets complaining about this by Alyssa Milano and Montel Williams — the former of which was time-stamped “2:07 PM – 26 Dec 2018” — by noting that “by the time this was posted, the President and Mrs. Trump were in Iraq with the troops.”

Enter Ms. Idiot O’Brien, a longtime CNN host, who tried to take credit for the development. “Shaming him seems to work,” she replied.

Brett lowered the boom.

“Yes, Ma’am. Trump read this tweet when it was posted and time-traveled himself back to yesterday and flew to Iraq. Genius take,”

Nothing but crickets from Soledad.
