I’m Beginning to Like This Guy

According to The Washington Times President Trump canceled federal student loan debts Wednesday for tens of thousands of veterans who are 100% disabled, saying it’s the nation who owes them instead for their service. I’ve copied part of the article below and the full story is here.

At the 75th annual American Veterans convention in Louisville, Kentucky, the president signed an executive action directing the Education Department to eliminate “every penny” of student loan debt for about 25,000 disabled veterans who owe an average of $30,000.

The president said the action is worthy of veterans “who have made immense sacrifices, the ultimate sacrifice in many ways, for our nation.”

“That’s hundreds of millions of dollars in student debt held by our severely wounded warriors — it’s gone forever,” the president said.

Mr. Trump called to the stage retired Sgt. Katherine Cassell, who developed severe lung problems and other ailments after serving two tours in Iraq with the Army, Navy and Air Force. She is now working toward a degree at the University of Nevada.

“This is an amazing relief on my family, as well as — I know — many thousands of veterans,” she told the president.

Failing The Acid Test

Breitbart has a good read about those migrants that are persecuted in their native land: None of the roughly 1,200 migrants who had their asylum cases adjudicated by federal immigration officials while they waited in Mexico as part of President Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy were found to be eligible for asylum, federal data finds. Full story here.

Since the Trump administration has enacted the Remain in Mexico policy to ensure that migrants seeking asylum in the U.S. remain in Mexico while their claims are adjudicated, none of the migrants so far have been found eligible for asylum, according to federal data.

As of June, about 1,155 migrants waiting in Mexico had their asylum claims processed and finalized by U.S. federal immigration courts. In the end, none of the 1,155 migrants were eligible for asylum and thus must return to their native countries.

The Abandonment of Obama

Mark another win up on the scorecard, the Financial Times has a great read on just how much Trump has beaten back the forces of darkness. A snippet below, full article here.

It is one thing for Donald Trump to reverse everything Barack Obama did. His quest is nearing completion. From the Iran nuclear deal to the Paris climate agreement, Mr Trump is stamping on anything with his predecessor’s name on it. The unfinished task is Obamacare, which Republicans have only partially disabled. It is thus ironic that most Democrats vying to replace Mr Trump would finish the job for him. Very few are promising to restore Obamacare. The main exception is Joe Biden, who, as Mr Obama’s number two, helped enact the Affordable Care Act. Even Mr Biden, however, is conflicted about whether to boast of his Obama association, or change the subject.

Let’s Quit Playing Around and Take Bold Action

If the USA, you and I, is/are responsible for Mexicans and borders don’t matter, let’s just go ahead and annex Mexico.

I mean, apparently we’re responsible for their well being and they have it so badly there, and according to liberals borders don’t exist… So let’s just annex Mexico and make it better for them there?

Race-obsessed media cries wolf, Trump gains in polls

From the Washington Examiner (full article here)

The media is helping President Trump’s reelection effort by its constant, obsessive, nearly unhinged determination to tell their audience for the 2,965th time that Trump’s tweets about four radical congresswomen were “racist.”

At least three respected polls, including one just out today, have shown the backlash those tweets — in Trump’s favor. I immediately predicted this would happen if the media persisted in its passionate, unprofessional behavior of affixing the “racist” label to the tweets as if the label were straight news rather than an opinion.

As I explained last week, words matter, and wolf cries eventually cause people to get angry at the crier. The word “racist” in particular has been so overused as a pejorative that plenty of nonracist people at least tune it out and sometimes revolt against it.

In this case, if the observer sees Reps. Rashida Tlaib, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressley, and Ilhan Omar primarily as “women of color,” then the nasty Trump tweet appears aimed at their “color,” which in these “woke” days often is misused as a stand-in for “race.” Yet if the observer doesn’t look at everything first and foremost through a racial or colorized lens, what the women have in common isn’t their supposed pigmentation similarities but their radicalism.
