Steve Camarota notes that while the political left has made a point to bring environmental concerns to the forefront of national debate in recent years, the country’s mass legal immigration policy — whereby about 1.6 million foreign nationals resettle in the U.S. every year — goes unmentioned. His Comments:

It seems almost certain that whatever environmental goal you have, having a dramatically larger population because of government policy of allowing so many people in legally, and also tolerating illegal immigration, will have important environmental implications and issues of traffic, pollution, congestion, and sprawl. It’s interesting to note that no one disputes those numbers … and yet we don’t have any kind of national debate about it.

In fact, there was a time where environmental groups were concerned about population growth,but because it’s driven by immigration, the environmental groups are generally a part of the progressive coalition or the liberal coalition within the Democratic party, they’ve dropped any discussion of population growth as a concern and simply seem to argue that we just have to manage it.

But, common sense, as well as scientific literature, suggests that population [growth] is a variable that impacts the environment. It’s not the only factor and you probably can do things to mitigate it, but it’s an important question if you’re trying to preserve environmental quality. Doesn’t adding 75 million more people make that more difficult?

The rabble-rousers are now talking about ‘reparations’. They do this to win over a shallow and gullible block of voters. Folk that believe they are owed reparations do so because the concept reinforces their belief that the reason they cannot succeed in America is do to either past harms or current prejudices. It’s not their fault. They are victims. In either case, whomever promises them they will get to the reparations question plays on their greatest weakness; inability to accept personal responsibility for their own lives. There are only three possible paths that the reparations issue takes. Two are untenable, and the third never solves the problem and leaves it as an issue that can be resurrected every two years to buy the votes of blacks. The two unacceptable outcomes are:

1. Those weak minded fools that believe they are actually owed reparations will be further alienated, less likely to participate in, our great society when the ‘big payout’ fails to materialize.
2. Those tax paying citizens that are to be placed on the hook for something they had no part in will revolt if such a law were passed or their tax dollars were expended that way.

It’s a terrible thing that these folk are doing to the weak minded and gullible. The only redeeming aspect of this mischief is that those that are being fooled have taken comfort that their plight is fault of whitey. That will work just fine for them but work terribly for a country that prior to 2008 had gotten well past the race issue.

Some day the left will have to answer for the destruction they have caused. Not just with the disaster at the border, but also for subverting the institutions that form the foundation of our republic. Some day…

When Occasional Cortex has her little ‘holier than thou’ rants and babbles on about Roosevelt and Reagan (all she can say is that they were racists), she shows much of what is wrong with our country today.  The emerging generations have no appreciation, no knowledge of those that walked these paths before them.  Of the brave young men that died at Guadalcanal, or those dying in the Ardennes Forest from cannon shot and a winter so cold the blood literally froze in their veins.  No knowledge of, no recollection of,  no thought to the utter horrors her ancestors, and the ancestors of millions of Americans faced under communism.  The safe haven has always been America.  So it’s a very ignorant and terrible mind that would seek to push our grand country toward global communism.  She is both ignorant and stupid and should have no place in the public square.

I would hope that she be forced to spend a little time in Venezuela. She could sell her hair, or perhaps her body, to scrounge enough greenbacks to buy stale bread. Or wait for hours in a line just to come away with a few drops of water as those in the picture below are doing.

An elderly veteran who ran a business supplying water to fight forest fires was prosecuted by the federal government and sent to prison for digging ponds on his own property, one of his lawyers says.

Joe Robertson, a Navy veteran from Montana, was 78 when he was convicted and sentenced to 18 months in federal prison and ordered to pay $130,000 in restitution through deductions from his Social Security checks.

His crime?

Robertson, whose business supplied water trucks to Montana firefighters, dug a series of small ponds close to his home in 2013 and 2014. The site was a wooded area near a channel, a foot wide and a foot deep, with two to three garden hoses’ worth of flow, according to court documents.

The U.S. government prosecuted Robertson for digging in proximity to “navigable waters” without a permit, a violation of the Clean Water Act administered by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Army Corps of Engineers.

Isra Hirsi, 16, of Minneapolis, is spearheading the nationwide youth climate strike protests across the U.S. in nearly 50 states and Washington, DC., along with co-organizers Alexandria Villasenor, 13, of New York, and Haven Coleman, 12, of Denver.

Hirsi, who lists on Twitter page that she is the head of the Minnesota High School Democrats and several other left-wing youth-based organizations, said in a recent interview with Grist that she is looking to “change the conversation” on issues such as the Green New Deal by organizing the strike.

So, we’ve come to this. These are the folk that have a platform in the public square and poison the minds of our young and ill informed.
