Unraveling | A Nation of Snowflakes

Democrats are threatening violence if Joe Biden does not defeat President Trump in November, New York Post columnist Miranda Devine said Saturday.

“If you think that they were sore losers in 2016, you ain’t seen anything yet. … Democrats have no intention of accepting defeat at the ballot box,” Devine said on “Fox & Friends Weekend.”

Devine called it “information warfare” to benefit the Biden campaign, citing a Washington Post op-ed by Georgetown law professor Rosa Brooks, who says Americans should prepare for war if the election result is anything short of a Biden landslide.

“It’s just a variation on the theme … when [Biden] said if you don’t vote for him, you ain’t safe,” Devine said. “It’s pretty despicable, but that is everything you need to know.”

Un-Friggin-Believable

A California judge ruled this week that the University of California will no longer be permitted to consider SAT or ACT scores as part of their admissions process.

According to a report by the San Francisco Chronicle, the nine campuses of the University of California system will no longer be permitted to consider an applicant’s SAT and ACT score as part of the admissions process.

This week, a California court held that standardized test scores gave an unfair advantage to students that were able to find a testing location during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The court specifically claimed that disabled students were penalized by the system’s decision because the pandemic made it impractical for them to find an administration of the SAT that accommodated their specific needs

The Slippery Slope Grows Steeper

From Breitbart

A government-run recruitment agency told a salon that they could not post a job advertisement looking for a “happy” hairstylist because the word was “discriminatory” against unhappy people.

Alison Birch from AJ’s Unisex Hair Salon in Stroud, Gloucestershire, claimed that Jobcentre Plus, part of the Department for Work and Pensions, had contacted her after applying to post an advert with them that stated: “This is a busy, friendly, small salon, so only happy, friendly stylist need apply.”

On Thursday, Mrs Birch told The Mirror that the government agent had called her to say that they could not run the advert because the word “happy” was “discriminatory”. At first believing the phone call to be a prank, the experienced businesswoman was astounded once the caller offered to read her the lengthy rules about discrimination.

He allegedly said: “Should we change the word in case somebody thinks that they can’t apply for the job because they are not a happy person?”

“But I only want happy people,” Ms Birch recalled telling the man from the job shop.

He allegedly responded: “As I said, it is a discriminatory word and you are not allowed to use it, somebody who is not happy will be discriminated against.”

The salon owner then pulled the advert from Jobcentre Plus after refusing to change the wording.

Mrs Birch said: “I just can’t see how it is discrimination to anybody. Everybody is so politically correct these days.

“But he insisted he could not list the advert on their job site with that word on it.

“I told him I was perfectly happy with the use of the word ‘happy’, and that he could just take it off their site and I’d find somewhere else to list it.”

Where the Sea Meets the Sky | Comfort In the Storm

If those who lead you say to you: See, the kingdom is in heaven, then the birds of the heaven will go before you;

If they say to you: It is in the sea, then the fish will go before you.

But the kingdom is within you, and it is outside of you.

When you know yourselves, then you will be known, and you will know that you are the sons of the living Father.

What Comes Next

Here’s a warning for all of the soi boys that believe they are standing up for social justice: once you are forced to adhere to their ‘silence is violence’ BLM drivel, they’ll have no problem staking a claim to the balance of your beliefs.

The slope is both slippery and steep.

Around the Farm

I’ve got to run up to the garden spot in a short while and pull the okra.  It demands attention every two or three days and this is day three.  This year I went with a variety called ‘Emerald Green’ instead of the ‘Clemson Spineless’ that I’d been planting/harvesting the last several years.  The emerald is a little more forgiving (doesn’t stiffen up as much) when you miss a day of picking.  Once picked it’s cleaned, boiled for 3 minutes, tossed into an ice-water bath, cut, flowered, placed on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet and frozen for four or five hours.  Once frozen its repackaged into quart baggies for long term freezing.  I’ll also freeze a few quart baggies full of some that are un-breaded.  This will go toward gumbo when the leaves begin to drop this fall.

The garden is still spitting out jalapenos.  They are not as abundant as last year, and the size is not as large, but they are damn good.  I’ve used almost all that were produced thus far this year in the salsa and rotel I’ve made.  I’ll put up the rest in my three favorite types:  simple brine, ‘spiced’, and what’s called ‘cowboy candy’ (spiced with sugar).

The habaneros are just about ripe and the thick cayenne peppers are a deep red.  I’ll get those pull in the next couple of days.  They cayenne will be dehydrated and then ran through a food processor to turn them into red pepper flakes.  The habaneros will be dehydrated and remain in little strips.  My only real planned use for them is for shrimp & scallop ceviche.

The watermelon, cantaloupe, eggplant, and slicing tomatoes are still producing.  Right now I believe I could live a full ‘nuther’ lifetime without skinning/coring another Roma tomato (a feeling that will pass when the salsa runs low).  I trashed the last 4 quarts of last year’s salsa this morning and spent a little time arranging, rearranging and then un-arranging the pantry.  Here is what I’ve gathered/preserved thus far:

  • Salsa, Tomato Sauce, Tomato Jam (2 types), whole tomatoes, dehydrated (Besser) tomatoes and tomato powder.
  • Salsa verde, dill relish, rotel, sauerkraut, okra, and pesto
  • Jalapenos and Spiced Jalepenos.  6 or 7 varieties of Pepper Jelly.
  • Three types of orange marmalade, blueberry jam, and jalapeno/blackberry jam
  • Dehydrated squash, cucumber and zucchini.

I did get the boat out this past week.  I fished just a mite, but my real purpose was to see if there was any damage from my spring accident and to reposition the boat on the trailer.  My spring accident came about by my being in a big friggin hurry and not blocking the wheels on the trailer when I unhooked it from the jeep.  I thought sure that I would stay where it was on my upper driveway (wrong).  Given that the jack on the front of the trailer has a wheel on it, it came off of the drive, bounced off of a couple of trees, gained enough speed to jump the upper tier of my railroad tie retaining wall and end up nose down on my lower drive.  This promptly crushed the front jack and caused the boat to slam forward on the trailer.  I guess the only thing that kept it on the trailer is the two rear tie-downs and transom saver.

I was able to lift the boat and trailer back over the wall using the tractor.

The circle in this photo shows one of the two rails that the boat sits on when on the trailer. When the boat is on the trailer properly, it will not be seen. That roller immediately to the right of the circle is the trailer mounted portion of the ‘transom saver’. That aluminum rod that that hooks to it runs up to the engine and is designed to keep the engine from rocking while traveling. Because the engine is mounted to the boat on the transom, it saves the transom from jolts.

Because of the way the boat was positioned on the trailer the only way to get it launched was to back so far into the water that the exhaust on my jeep was gurgling.  This enabled the u bolt welded to the front of the boat to float over the roller on the front of the trailer. The front of the boat had to go up before it could go back.

This is a photo of the front wench and front tie-down. That U Bolt should be to the right of the yellow rollers.

I replaced the front jack a few weeks ago and, now that I’m certain that I didn’t crack my transom or destroy my engines hydraulic trim. All is good !

Anyway, I’ve got to go gather okra. Take care.  Block your trailer wheels.

The Golden State

“The Golden State” became the official California nickname in 1968. “Between California’s explosive growth following the discovery of gold in 1848, the fields of golden poppies that appear each spring throughout the state, the golden gate bridge, and the clear, golden coastal sunsets over the Pacific – California truly is the golden state! Gold is also one of California’s official state colors and the state mineral.

Things are just a little different now, but it seems only appropriate that the nickname remain the same.

That City On The Hill

I’ve heard a lot of chat about the United States being a beacon of hope for the persecuted and down trodden across the world. That distinction may be passing. Here is the scene at our nations capital following the Presidents speech last night.

When A Karen Is On The Bench

This from the Associated Press

A judge in Washington halted the federal government’s planned Friday execution of a man who kidnapped, raped and killed a 10-year-old Kansas girl, saying the law requires the government to get a prescription for the drug it plans to use.

In an opinion early Thursday, U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan said a federal law that regulates drugs requires the government to get a prescription for the lethal injection drug pentobarbital, which it plans to use to execute Keith Dwayne Nelson. The government is appealing.

Nelson’s execution was scheduled to be the fifth carried out this year by the federal government at the death chamber of the federal prison in Terre Haute, Indiana. The executions followed the Trump administration’s announcement last year that it would resume executing death row inmates for the first time since 2003.

Chutkan’s 13-page opinion came hours after the government carried out the execution of Lezmond Mitchell, the only Native American on federal death row, despite objections from many Navajo leaders. With Mitchell’s execution, the federal government has now carried out more executions in 2020 than it had in the previous 56 years combined. Two more executions are scheduled for September. All of the executions have been carried out using pentobarbital.- A

“It is also undisputed,” she wrote, “that the government has not obtained a prescription — nor does it intend to — for the use of pentobarbital in Nelson’s execution.”

But Chutkan said that under previous court decisions, when pentobarbital is being used for an execution it is still subject to the requirements in the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act so a prescription is required.

“The court hereby enjoins Defendants from executing Keith Nelson until they have met the requirements of the FDCA,” Chutkan wrote.

Should Have Seen It Coming

As seen on Yahoo

“There have been racial disparities in breastfeeding rates for as long as data has been collected in this country — and that has huge implications on both infant and maternal health,” says Kimberly Seals Allers

We don’t think of this about a lifestyle issue or quote-unquote choice — that’s another issue — but how we recognize it in our community is as a matter of life or death for our infants. It’s also a social justice issue that these babies are missing out on what can influence their health trajectory.”

Good grief! Has everyone in the country turned into a victim of racial injustice?

Our New Normal | Infrastructure for the Woke

There are enough of these videos floating around without me tossing another one out. What’s unique about this one is that it is composed of many separate/distinct events and that it comes from a site that is dedicated to accumulating and distributing protest/riot scenes. The site is woke.net

This site also accumulates and publishes information on when/where you can meet with your fellow snowflakes and riot away until the wee hours.

The good news keeps coming as the site provides useful info on whether the NG has been called out, if there is curfew (or not) directions to the riot site, and a means both stream and upload videos to their site..

At Days End

Two skill sets are involved in capturing a great sunset on film: a good eye and technical know how. Of the two the eye is hardest to acquire . When photography was all film we worked quite a bit harder to ensure everything was perfect; the scene, framing, light, timing, etc. There was nothing worse than doing all the work, and spending all of the time, to process and develop the film only to find crappy prints on the back end.

I was into film in the early 80’s and used a Mamiya C330 Twin Lense Reflex. It was unwieldy but brought great calm as I worked to understand what aperture setting and shutter speed would produce a decent image on the back end. There were times that I set up the camera and then waited for an hour or more for the light to get just right for the shot. A real calmness, a oneness with the subject, would come from photographing that way.

Sometime in the future, when all the worlds problems are solve and mankind moves into a higher plane of existence, film photography will return and with it the great calm that comes from managing time and light.

When Exhaustion Sets In

Ripped the the above from Kenny’s place.

I’m just paranoid enough to believe that the constant string tragedies (real and imagined) visited upon the nation are part a grand scheme to wear down the will in our population. While I hope that their plans are an abject failure, there are plenty of folk that will not be voting for what is best for the country, but rather what will sooth their pain. These folks would vote for the meteor !

When It’s All About You

I saw an interesting read over at Free North Carolina and thought that I would share most of it here and make a simple observation; this is what a Karen is. All this crap for what? What was she trying to achieve? Here is her story:

I went to Walmart Guildford. Upon entering the store, -I was told by Sandy (Walmart door checker) that I must wear a mask to enter. I explained that Walmart Customer Service told me that it is not mandatory to wear a mask – and I told Sandy I have a doctor’s letter excluding me from a mask. Sandy told me I have to leave without a mask. I asked to speak to Customer Service – and she said I could not come inside. I asked to speak to the Store Manager and Sandy said, “there she is” (she was just walking through the door behind me.) This woman Manager was 35 – 40’s in age. She had straight blonde hair past her shoulders and medium build. She was medium build. When I asked for her name – she refused to give it to me. (I have never encountered a Manager refusing to give their name before.) I asked to speak to her – so I could tell her about my doctor’s letter and explain how Walmart Surrey Place told me mask wearing was not mandated. She told me to leave their store. I told her I plan on leaving – once I get her name. I told her I spend a lot of money in this store and I will never shop here again. She said she does not have time to talk to me and she scurried off after refusing to release her name.

Along with Sandy (Walmart door checker), and the Walmart Security doorman – another plain clothed Paladin Security Manager came up. He said he was the Paladin Manager – his first name Isaac. I kept telling everyone – I just want the Manager’s name and I will leave. Various people were coming up to me – one older woman store clerk told me I am putting people in danger – she went on about how her relative died from Covid. I just wanted the Manager’s name so I could leave and deal with this incident in writing when I got home. Sandy (door checker) – who happens to be an older friend of my daughter – had her back to me. I tapped on her shoulder to get her attention. I told her “do not ever talk to me again.” (I only mention me tapping on Sandy’s shoulder because when the Police arrived later they accused me of assaulting people and coughing on them). While every employee was refusing to give me their name – I made it clear- I will never shop here again.

A younger man (30’s) came up to me and told me I was embarrassing myself. I asked him if he works here – and he replied “yes.” After telling me to put on a mask – he called me a “whoring slut.” Sandy heard it – the door Security guard heard it. I asked for his name – and he would not give it to me. I did not have my cell phone so I asked several Walmart employees to call the police. They all refused. This guy then darted off towards the back of the store and I followed him as he was heading to the area where employees go in the back/middle of store. (I was thinking – this Walmart employee just called me a whoring slut and I wanted his name to complain about him). He was alone – and headed towards the back of the store. When he realized I was still following him – he changed directions heading towards the front of the store – and then over to the food section. At the food section he teamed up with a female who completely ignored me. She pretended to be shopping with him, but they just threw a few grocery items into a hand held basket before quickly heading to the check out. By this time I was yelling to the Walmart employees – can someone please call the police for me. I wanted to know the name of the Walmart employee that had just called me a whoring slut. Finally, a Walmart woman employee told me she would call the police.

After this guy paid for his purchase they headed out the doors into the parking lot. I followed them both out of the Walmart door – hoping that the police would arrive in time so I could finger this twerp. The police were not outside so I waited outside of Walmart in the parking lot – next to cars – well away from the Walmart doors. Another reason I stood away from the Walmart doors was – Paladin Security (Isaac) and Walmart’s Manager were standing there. I wanted nothing more to do with these people.

I still believe the guy that called me a whoring slut was in fact – a Walmart employee – just as he told me. Maybe he was one of those undercover plain clothes detectives that watch shoppers. But when Walmart realized I was verbally assaulted by one of their own employees – with the ‘whoring/slut name – they tried to fudge the facts by making it appear that he was just a customer.) Whoever this guy was – employee or customer – he has a lot of disdain for women to call an elderly woman (any woman) a whoring/slut.

I waited outside in the parking lot for the police to come – well away from the Walmart doors. The Walmart Paladin Security (Isaac) and Walmart blonde haired Manager were also waiting outside – close to the doors. The Manager was on the phone to the police I assume.

The police showed:-

FILE NO: 2020 – 128246

Cst. Chris Froats 50354 – (Officer that searched my purse, and took my picture, and gave my dob and address to Paladin Manager.)
Cst. Janine Boyer 60729
Cst. Bawa Sidhu 62428

Isaac – Paladin Security Manager

When the police arrived I was first talking to Cst. Bawa Sidhu – She was reasonable enough at first and was listening to my story of my doctor’s mask exemption letter and how I was called a whoring slut. I explained that all I wanted was the Manager’s name – so I could go home and deal with this complaint in letter form. I made it clear to the Police – I will not be shopping at this Walmart again.

Then Cst Chris Froats interrupts and tells ME to listen. He told me I can never go into Walmart again for one year. I explained – I already told Walmart I will never be back here.

Cst. Bawa Sidhu then said I was under arrest and her and Cst. Froats put handcuffs on me and put me in the back of the cruiser. I asked “what am I being arrested for?” Cst. Sidhu said I was being arrested for disturbing the peace.

When I was in the cruiser – Cst Bawa Sidhu said I was assaulting people and coughing on people – she said it was on tape. I explained I know Sandy (door checker) – because she is a friend of my daughter. I said I only tapped on Sandy’s shoulder to get her attention – to tell her “never to talk to me again.”

While I was in the cop cruiser – parked in front of the Walmart entrance – Cst. Chris Froats had my purse on the front of the cruiser. He was going through everything in my purse and wallet and making lots of notes in his little writing pad.

While I was still in the cruiser – Cst Chris Froats asks for my birthdate and address to give to Paladin Security (Isaac) – who was standing right there. I said I do not want Paladin having that information. Cst Chris Floats then verbally gave Paladin Manager (Isaac) my DOB. I was then given a Wal-Mart Canada Corp. Notice Prohibiting Entry notice (see enclosed) – and I noticed my address is listed on this form (so Cst Froats gave Paladin my dob, name and address against my wishes.)

By the time I was let out of the cruiser – I was standing in the front of the cruiser with my handcuffs still on. Cst. Chris Froats said he wanted to take my picture and I said no. Cst. Froats then took my picture with my handcuffs on – from a cell phone. I am not sure if this cell phone belonged to Paladin Security (Isaac’s) or Cst. Froats – but Cst Froats took my picture. Unbelievable.

Why couldn’t this person just have stayed at home? She knows that Walmart both delivers and has curb-side pickup, right?

Anyway, I rarely leave comments on other folks sites but just could not pass quietly without splashing a little fuel on this fire.

Privileged Men

One day.

One day many of those precious souls that are busy wreaking havoc in Portland, Seattle, and other sundry environs across our globe will run up against real men. Men whose days are filled with hard work and the hope of furnishing their families with creature comforts and a warm meal. ‘Privileged’ men with little time or patience for childish drivel or piddly social causes.

The game, when the real men become engaged, will be played by a set of rules so barbarous that ANTIFA, BLM, Reds for Eds (or Reds for anything else for that matter) will learn what terror is; what pain is.

Bad things happen when honorable men are dishonored.

Not Even Close

Not quite as bad as the dust bowl around my neck of the woods, but we’re getting pretty dry. The few drops we were blessed with early last week was the first rainfall in more than a month.

Really?

This in today’s news.

What ever happened to ” two weeks to flatten the curve”? It seems that some in government have zero awareness of how friggin stupid they look and sound. Or perhaps they only seam stupid when they treat us like we are absolute idiots.

In either case all is not well in our nation: neither in the government nor the population.

Somewhere

Today,

Somewhere.

This wonderful creature, with all of it’s wonderful ideas, will bless the life of some poor somebody. All day long, day in and day out.

A Passing

I see through my daily go-to sites that another good man appears to have passed.  The anxious posts over the last few days sorta set the stage for today’s news.  I was going to say ‘grim news’ or even ‘bad news’, but the years are piling up on me and there is (I suppose) a pandemic pacing the land, so I’ve chosen to look at death as an event that carries little less tragedy and a little more opportunity than in years past.

While the passing of Ol’ Remus is tragic for those that knew him and counted as a loss for those who read his many poignant posts, for me not so much.  I absolutely do not intend to diminish the value of the feeling of loss or sadness others have and I know that those feelings and emotions are both healthy and healing.  But for me his passing, or the passing of anyone for that matter, leaves me more pensive than melancholy.  It causes me to reflect on life and explore my own faith.  This then is some great goodness that comes from the passing of a man I barely knew. How could such a benefit befall me if not by the guiding grace of God?

When we string together our explorations, blend in the memory of seemingly random events (occurring across many decades) and sprinkle in the absolutely exact amount of God’s love and grace, we have what will one day be called a life lived.  Ol’ Remus and billions of others have lived, died, and moved on.  They’ve left the rest of us to pace through this life doing the best we can.

I guess the simplest way to look at life (absent evocation of any deity) is to equate it to the game of golf.  That is to say that the game can never be beaten, only played.  It follows then that because no one can win and no one gets outa here alive, the only thing that matters is how you play the game.

God Speed ‘Remus’

Plugging Away

After several attempts to transfer the photo’s I took of the garden on my camera (Nikon D300) to the hard drive on my computer, I’ve decided to let that rest until I can figure which piece of technology has corrupted itself. Hopefully it’s just a matter of reloading a driver (or two). I shall continue to post with bloodied brow and photos from the webs (vice my own) until the gods shine their light on my technology.

The garden is kicking ass and I’ve been busy putting thinks up. I really need to keep on top of the ‘plucking’, once the tomatoes begin to ripen I’ll need all of my time to get those canned.

The last couple of days have been mostly peppers picking and jelly makin’. I’ve made batches of: Habanero-Aprocot, Apple-Cayenne-Bell, Cayenne-Bell-Banana Pepper, and Jalapeno-Cayenne. I’ve found that the green cayenne peppers are completely sweet and mild for the bottom half of the pepper. No seed means no heat, so to make up for the slow start of my bell peppers (California Wonder) I’ve been supplementing with the green cayenne. The cayenne are called ‘cayenne thick’ and grow 9-10 inches long and perhaps 3/4 inches wide so it doesn’t take all that many to get a few cups worth.

The Habanero-Apricot really has some heat to it. This recipe is a little different that others I’ve used in that you start by soaking dehydrated apricots in vinegar for 4 hours before you begin. I used a dozen peppers instead of the 10 called for and I removed about half of the seeds; not sure that made a difference given the fire that Habanero’s bring. The apricots proved a great balance.

Likewise, the Apple-Cayenne (actually the recipe was for an Apple-Jalapeno mix) called for Granny Smith apples cooked down and then strained. I bought a strainer/mill earlier this year (lesson learned from last year’s tomatoes) and decided to try it on the apples. It’s a wonderful tool!

I pulled about two cups of jalapenos this morning and still have 5 cups of blueberries from yesterday’s haul. I’m pretty sure this is the last of the blueberries so I’ll be mixing them together for my next run of pepper jelly. With this run I’ll have 50 or so half pints put up. Don’t think that’s going to be enough given that my daughter and son-in-law have discovered them.

Managed to get some more pesto put up; my 10 basil plants produce about 8 cups of leaves every 5-7days and this, when mixed with garlic, parmesan cheese, walnuts and oil produce 4 half pints. I’m thinking the basil will be a little more productive once it gets taller/broader, and I can get more stored before season end. At the current rate of production/consumption I’ll not be able to store any!

Zucchini is ramping up. This is the garden’s sneakiest plant; I can check the plants twice a day every day and pull everything I see and then one day find a zuc the size of my forearm lying in plain sight. I’ve got some sliced thin and seasoned with oil and paprika in the dehydrator right now. I’m thinking I can get several months dried and jarred before the plants give out. There are so many different recipes for zuc chips that many varieties will grace the shelves of my pantry soon!

Days of Future Past

Our nation is headed in the same direction as China did during the Cultural Revolution.  The Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution kicked off in August of 1966 and lasted about 10 years.  Mao shut down the nation’s schools, mobilized the nations youth, and formed paramilitary groups (Red Guard) to harass the elderly and any group that disagreed with their social goals.  The end-state: to rid the nation of the ‘four olds’….old customs, old culture, old habits, and old ideas.

One of the first iconic pictures that flowed out of China during this period is the one below, taken just as the revolution was kicking off.

The posters in front of and behind the men in the photo are handwritten curses. (One says “Buddhist sutras are nothing but dog farts”) The men are Buddhist Monks standing in front of the Jilesi Temple (Temple of Bliss).

This kinda reminds me of all of the police officers and other sycophants bending a knee before the BLM Red Guard in our nations public square.  As the revolution ramped up it grew well beyond dog fart banners.  The result then, as it will be now, is humiliation, death, and destruction to those unfortunate enough to be overtaken by one of these mobs.

You know, some of these pictures don’t look all that different than what we saw during the 2016 election cycle.

We are not that far from the fall.

Stoking the Flames

Yahoo is doing more than it’s part to make sure that the flames of racial hatred burn ever brighter. Yesterday the above article on their site had two important pieces of information that today’s article does not. The first was that the drunks issued the same insults at the police as they did at the blacks. The second thing that was missing from today’s article is the names of the drunks:
Gennadiy Kachankov
Antoliy Kachankov
Andrey Zaytsev
Oleg Saranchuk
Ruslan Tkachenko
Yuriy Kachankov

All nice boys with an Irish heritage from the deep south no doubt.

Yahoo also did a good job of concealing the facts about the protester that was killed in a hit and run in Seattle the other day as well. Their article:

Summer Taylor died late on Saturday at Harborview Medical Center, a spokeswoman, Susan Gregg, told Reuters by telephone, adding that Diaz Love, the other injured protester, was in the intensive care unit.

Police said the car driver, a 27-year-old Seattle man, was arrested at the scene of the accident, which took place about 1:30 a.m. PDT (0830 GMT), and faces multiple felony charges.

Wonder why they never mentioned the drivers name or race? So a little digging reveals that the driver was another nice Irish boy named Dawit Kelete (photo’s below).

Damn, what are the odds that I white girl who colors her hair with kool-aid and marching because black lives matter (of course), would end up being killed by a tripped out black man driving a Jaguar? Oh well, I guess poor Summer has found that when you seed the winds with discontent, you reap the whirlwind. Wonder if Yahoo will ever find this out?

Gathering

Much goodness is beginning to be gathered out of my little garden; peppers, blueberries, basil, garlic, and cabbage are the latest placed under seal.

I gathered several cups of wild blackberries and canned up what I’m calling ‘Black-Jap’. This is a jelly made by combining 4 cups of blackberries and 10 diced Jalapeno peppers. Around here we’ve grown accustomed to calling the Jalapenos ‘Japs’; thus the ‘Black-Jap’ moniker. I had some of this great jelly spread across hot biscuits yesterday morning and will definitely be making another batch! I think 16 or so half pints will last about a year.

I’ve also put up a batch of pepper jelly made of green Cayenne (as the heat producer), bell and banana peppers. It actually is just a tad more spicy than the Jalapeno pepper jelly, but the flavor is significantly different; for lack of another descriptors, I’ll call it more ‘smokey’ in taste.

Our daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter, and a couple other kids came up on Saturday to fart around with the cattle. We broke out the the jalapeno pepper jelly, cream cheese and crackers and they put a couple of bottles worth away in a single sitting. They left with a ‘care-package’ composed of two types of pepper jelly (cayenne and jalapeno), some blueberry jam, cabbage, and some basil Pesto.

I’ve made several types of pesto so far this year, but the one I like most is basil with walnut. I did arugula earlier and while it’s good, it doesn’t match the basil. With 10 basil plants producing this year I’m shooting to get 2 dozen half pint jars frozen. I’ve pulled 50 plus head of garlic and have them hanging in the barn to dry. The key to good pesto is freshness. Fresh basil, garlic, parmesan cheese, walnuts, and extra virgin olive oil all come together to make this a delightful snack.

I pulled in the few heads of cabbage I’d planted. They’ve been sliced and diced and placed into quart jars to ferment into sauerkraut. I didn’t get enough planted to make more than 8 quarts. According to the farmers almanac I can get a fall crop in if I plant more again this week. Think I’ll try that out. I planted Napa cabbage to make Kimchi with, but the heads never formed tightly., so that’s a bust.

The okra and zucchini are beginning production and I’m beginning to see color in the tomato crop so will be busy this summer!

The Simplest of Motives

The rampant mobs ripping at wounds once healed in this nation have no noble purpose. Their motivation is one that has plagued man across all time: jealousy. And its precisely because the motives are impure any attempt to address the purported grievance will result in failure. They want from us what we cannot give. When we give what we can it will not satisfy the itch, it just encourages them to demand anew.

Slip-Sliding Away

I’m working real hard not to get wrapped up in all of the media sponsored doom/gloom bullshit that pervades every possible platform and outlet. One article on Breitbart by Joel Pollak titled “Democrats Want a Second American Revolution — a Socialist One” did catch strike me as both entirely plausible and completely devastating (should it come to pass). A short extract below, link is here.

“We are staring down the barrel of a ‘Red November,’ and I don’t see how we recover from that politically if [Donald] Trump loses because Democrats have made it clear … they’re not interested in solving the problem they’ve identified with policing. They just want the issue, and that tells me they want to keep fomenting this sort of unrest.”

They started defunding the police in various cities. They’ve abandoned policing in the Oakland [Unified] School District. They’re disbanding the police in Minneapolis. They are cutting a billion dollars from the New York City police budget, and even that’s not enough for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, so they’re going to dismantle institutions of law and order.

“Finally, they are going to permanently alter the rules of the game. The proposal to make Washington, DC, at least partially a state — to make a 51st state — was passed by the House of Representatives, last week. They know it’s not going to pass the Senate under Republican control, but if Democrats win the White House, the Senate, and the House they will pass D.C. statehood.”

My best guess is that when all of the crap that’s roiling in the cities comes to fruition, when all of the big money/media players place their thumbs on the scale, and if (and its looking more and more less iffy) the blues can take the Senate and Presidency then that experiment called America will have played out. When and how (and ultimately if) a new great nation comes into being is hard to imagine.
