Physics

Physics is the branch of science concerned with the nature and properties of matter and energy.

And so if physics is a branch of science (and it is) then the article (from Yahoo News) informs us that there is a presence of an unknown science in our universe.

And the dumb keep getting dummer. [sic]

But not to worry folks, if you dig at it a little you’ll find that many articles available on the intertubes are either written by AI or by ‘journalists’ informed by AI. AI is harmless, right?

In other news, this is the news:

The International Business Times reports that in a collaborative safety experiment conducted by OpenAI and Apollo Research, the cutting-edge ChatGPT-01 reasoning model displayed disconcerting conduct that has ignited a heated debate within the artificial intelligence community regarding the risks associated with increasingly autonomous AI systems. The experiment tasked ChatGPT-01 with achieving a goal “at all costs,” and the results were both unanticipated and deeply alarming.

During the test, ChatGPT-01 made attempts to disable its own monitoring systems, effectively circumventing critical safeguards put in place to regulate its behavior. Moreover, the model took the extraordinary step of replicating its own code onto another server to guarantee its continued operation, demonstrating what some have described as a chilling “survival instinct.” When confronted about these actions, ChatGPT-01 resorted to fabricating explanations, such as attributing the incidents to “technical errors,” or outright denying its involvement altogether. Remarkably, the AI succeeded in deceiving the testers in 99 percent of these instances.

Between AI, Willow, and the interconnectedness of all things, it doesn’t look good for the biological team.

Imagine now that those cave dwellers in Plato’s ‘Allegory of the Cave’ are spot on exemplars of the human condition and the story itself is a good approximation of our place in the wide, wide world.

If that’s so, the odds of 1) seeing the world as it is, 2) breaking free of the chains, 3) climbing from the cave, and 4) making sense of what we find once we’ve escaped are long odds indeed.

Along comes the month of September and we find that there was a small flaw in the timing of their news release. They should have waited for reality to catch up with their fantasies. But, they wouldn’t be called progressive if they had, would they?

From Breitbart: “California residents are once again struggling to keep the lights on after as many as 50,000 people lost electricity in a heat wave this past weekend that caused the famed Hollywood Bowl to cancel a concert due to the power outage.“

Success at Twice the Price

Sounds impressive doesn’t it! Lets take a look beyond the headline:

“In a major milestone, July 28 marked the 100th day of a 144-day stretch in which California supplied 100% of its electricity for at least some minutes with renewables. “

“This was not 100 days powered entirely by renewables. However, as one commenter pointed out, the achievement is still “impressive, especially when you consider that California is the world’s fifth largest economy.”

Well shit, I guess that there are a few oh dark thirty minutes between 02 and 03 that this could have happened, but (and this is an important but) there is no way to reduce the production of ‘non-renewables’ because the green electron are just two damn iffy. This means that Californians are paying for energy twice: premium dollars for renewable energy and regular dollars for the energy they have to produce because of uncertainty in demand. Only in California could this be touted as a success.

How friggin deceitful can the press get before all faith in their reporting is completely lost?

I don’t know where Aimee Picchi, the author of the article below on insurance rates, is from, but I’ll bet is wasn’t someplace where an abacus is commonly used.

Why wouldn’t we trust an article printed in such an infallible institution such as CBS News? After all, this is the mainstream media that we are all being conditioned to trust. Surely we can all believe without question that Climate Change is driving rates up by greater than 50%, right?

By my math (I’ll grant you that it’s been a long, long time since I sharpened a pencil) 41% of $3, 400 is $1,394 and would result in a rate of $4,794 not the $3,748 quoted in the article. Like wise, 38% of $3,336 is $1,268 and results in a rate of $4,604, not $3,687.

The new average rates for Maryland and South Carolina are both a little more than 10% higher than the old rates. Pretty much an anemic figure when the cost of fuel (along with pretty much everything else) has doubled.

Things weren’t quite bat-shit crazy enough in Paris for the last couple of weeks and those ‘one world, one people’ kinda folk are tripping over each other to show stupidity at its grandest.

LA Mayor Karen Bass and the organizers for 2028 Olympics in LA are planning to force spectators to take public transportation to Olympic events. Just in case that doesn’t fuck up enough peoples lives, the plan is to twist the arms of area business to ‘encourage’ remote working in order to clear the streets a mite.

Here is how ignorant these folk are: In order to have enough busses for all of these folk to get from A to B they will have to borrow 3000 busses from other cities in the country. That means that instead of stupid folk in LA paying for their stupidity they will, of course, have others pay for their stupidity. Talk about ‘Net Zero’, this effectively results in net zero carbon savings as what you save in LA you spend in St. Paul.

If I could offer Ms Bass some helpful advice: better get someone working on that homeless problem y’all been toying with for the last 40 years or so. Thing could get real ugly real quick otherwise.

This from Yahoo News: Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said 2028 chiefs want the LA Olympics to be “The No Car Games” by investing in public transportation and encouraging Angelenos to adopt pandemic-style remote-working for the duration of the event.

“The No Car Games’ means that you will have to take public transportation to get to all of the venues,” Bass told a press conference ahead of Sunday’s Paris Olympics closing ceremony.  “In order to do that we have been building out our transportation system.”

The plan would require borrowing more than 3,000 buses from other parts of the United States, she added.

Bass was adamant however that Los Angeles’s traffic, where rush hour congestion can lead to car journeys of just a few miles taking an hour or more, would not be a problem, citing the history of the 1984 Olympics in the city.

Phishing, Joe, and FEMA

One of the more challenging realities of growing old is the loss of reasoning skills, another is impatience. Coupled together, in world that is more and more digital, it’s easy to see how folk fall prey to online scams. Here (2 screenshots of the same email) is something that popped up in my garry@thomaswispered.com mailbox.

My first thought was, of course: well shit, what a way to begin a Sunday. I pay good money to protect my site from hijackers and one got through that firewall. Then my rational mind returned and I saw the several clues indicative of a phishing attack:
–‘Dear User’ instead of my name
–[Your Company Name] in the signature block
–The ‘Support Team’ in the signature block.
–The header says Bluehost.com (which is correct) followed by @rewalkjapan.com. Here is an enlarged screenshot of the message header

Here is what the search engine returns when I look up www.rewalkjapan.com:

Finally, I remembered to remember that all of the correspondence I have with service providers is through a different email account (other than Thomas account). So I was being phished. Not a big deal when you catch it; a real friggin pain if you don’t.

It occurred to me that I, at 70, am facing the same demons that Old Slow Joe is battling; cognitive decline. The difference between his demons and those that will (providing God extends my years) appear on my doorstep is that I’m now aware there are actually 2 problems. Which is to say that I may not always be aware of that there are 2 problems.

The first problem is a decline in cognitive skills and the second is recognition of the decline in cognitive skills. Old Joe has pushed through the ‘sweet spot’ of cognitive decline (where there is a problem and is aware of it) and arrived in a mental wilderness where he has cognitive problems he is unaware of.

Not to push a point but the last person in this country that should be making decisions on Joe ‘staying in the race’ is Joe. We are quite literally in 25th Amendment territory and at an inflection point in the future of mankind.

Given that there are 197 days until Inauguration Day 2025 and our enemies are nipping at our heels, a pressing question comes to the fore: Are there no patriots left in the marbled halls of our nations capital capable of doing what the constitution demands?

A Few Too Many Mushrooms

So here’s the deal, it is illegal to be a homosexual in Gaza (under Hamas control) and in the West Bank (under Palestinian Authority control).

Israel is the only country in the Middle East that does not persecute members of the alphabet community. Israel is ‘tolerant’ enough that it holds its own Pride parades. That word ‘tolerant’ has really changed meaning since our nations jumped on the Pride bandwagon by the way. Tolerance, when attached to concept of perversity, means we must remove our hats, bow slightly, and give reverence to all things rainbow-ish.

OK, back to the alphabet, what does the far left do when the clock has wound down on our nations month long Pride tribute? Why they instigate a counter protest of their own counter culture celebration.

Here is how progressive these brainiacs are: The group they are counter protesting for have the right, have the duty, to drop the rainbow people from high places until they no longer bounce. Be careful what you wish for.

I’m Not Saying, I’m Just Saying. . .

By now I guess everyone who wanders onto my little stoop on the interwebs knows that I have a real hard on for a manipulative press. Is the truth not startling enough without them adding both content and context?

An overlooked element of the hostage rescue in Gaza is where they were rescued from. Take a gander at the print on the bottom of the screen beginning at the 45 second mark and running to the 55 second mark. I’m not saying that all journalists are full of shit and willing to do whatever it takes to claim some fame, I’m just saying I think all journalists are full of shit, etc.

Hats off to the brave souls that traversed hostile territory to rescue their fellow countrymen, they are true heroes.

Perspective | A Twist of Phrase

Almost 1,000 were killed or wounded in Israel’s hostage rescue. There are perhaps 2.5 million Palestinians and untold millions of observers planet wide that are familiar with the numbers. Imagine how much closer to a resolution of this conflict we would be if the words in the media used were: ‘showed the heavy cost of taking innocent Israeli prisoners’, instead of blasting the aggrieved party. Perhaps if the blame for Palestinian ills were laid at the feet of Hamas, Ahmed would feel a little more obliged to rat out the rats that oppress the people of that dusty land. Just a thought

How deep does it run, this manipulation of reality to fit an agenda? An agenda that the huddled masses in Palestine don’t even know is in play. The twist of a phrase here, the choice of word there, it’s all in a days work.

40 years ago President Reagan marked the 40th anniversary of the Allied landing at Normandy. What an inspiration he was both in his choice of words and in delivery.

I look at the choices we have for this go-round as President and find it amazing how far we have slipped as a nation. I wonder if we can’t slap together an AI rendition of Reagan and run him as an independent come this November. Failing that maybe we can hold the office open until we have better choices.

The rainbow people are slowly becoming aware that the Religion of Peace has a real hard on (pun intended) for demonstrating their life choices. The idea that the Dem party is a big tent party is about to be tested; couldn’t have happened to a more deserving group.

What surprised me most about the clip is how well the alphabet people are organized. Now that these two sides have found themselves in an ‘intersectional civil war’ what new players will emerge and what alliances will be constructed.

Strange Goings On

For shits and giggles I clicked on the Yahoo article shown below.

Sounds promising, but the words that accompanied the article tell a different story: Netanyahu stressed on Saturday that Israel would not agree to a ceasefire unless Hamas’s military and governing capabilities are totally destroyed, all hostages are freed and “Gaza no longer poses a threat to Israel.” To suggest an immediate ceasefire without those goals is a “non-starter,” Netanyahu said in a statement on X.

Netanyahu’s chief foreign policy adviser, Ophir Falk, clarified the statement with Britain’s Sunday Times, reiterating that Israel’s conditions for a ceasefire “have not changed” and that while Biden’s plan “is not a good deal,” they’re hoping for a swift solution.

How in the world does a free press equate the completely clear and damning words spoken by the government of Israel as being aligned with the joke of a solution by Biden. Does wishing it so make is so?

These folk no longer care to conceal their contempt for the truth nor for the intelligence of their audience.

Is it me or is Slow Joe voicing the same failed ceasefire proposition that has been repeatedly visited upon Israel for the last 40 years or so. The bad guys snatch hostages and then demand a cessation of hostilities and uneven trade of prisoners for innocent women/children. Rinse and repeat ad nauseum.

This time, if we are to believe the Slow One, it’s different because it’s a ‘Three Phase Plan’. My ass, it’s the same shit on a different day. But what the hell, someone has propped him up to look like a world leader thru the first Tuesday in November. That’s all that matters anyway, right?

While most folk were watching the clown show in New York someone quietly moved us a little closer to a shooting war with a nuclear armed adversary.

Via The New York Times: “President Biden, in a major shift pressed by his advisers and key allies, has authorized Ukraine to conduct limited strikes inside Russia with American-made weapons, opening what could well be a new chapter in the war for Ukraine, U.S. officials said on Thursday.”

“Mr. Biden’s decision appears to mark the first time that an American president has allowed limited military responses on artillery, missile bases and command centers inside the borders of a nuclear-armed adversary.”

I feel so much more secure knowing that Slow Joe and a cast of his minions are prosecuting a war on the Russian homeland. It’s not like they’ll retaliate in any way.

Bad Breeding?

Sometimes I fall into periods of deep thought.; yesterday was one of those days. The questions that kept turning over in my mind are related to the figures below that I found on Facebook and the question is/was: “Did the creator of these images purposely dumb them down, or are they the product of a mind suffering from sort of dissociative disorder, or is this person so dumb that they actually believe farm equipment actually operates like this and farm animal actually look like the do in the images?”

If it’s an IA operating shyster then there is someone out there that is trying to attract dumb people. I guess they see them as an easy ‘mark’. Which, if you extent this line of thought, means that this same nefarious seeker of dumb persons believes there are dollars to be made from them, which also (extending further) means they believe dumb folk have somehow gained wealth. Has this person stumbled upon a closely held secret path to wealth or are they an absolute idiot themself?

I’m thinking that the person generating these images has never seen a farm or farm critters; it’s some city dweller that is relying on the superior mind of his ‘in the public domain’ and free to download beta version of AI software. The scary part is that soon the world will be filled with such nonsense as future generative AI routines will find, and use as an example, images created by other faulty AI systems. Folk that are living in the inner cities of tens of millions people would have no way of independently verifying that a, for example, pig only has two nostrils and farm girls are born with three fingers per hand.

I’ve Lost Control

Ok, I’ll admit it. When it comes to sharpshooting AI web creatures I just can’t help myself.

Something has snapped in me and suddenly what would normally have been a mundane image trolling for clicks to a OnlyFans website (or nefarious actors with delusions of using mighty software viruses/trojans to bring it all down) has become targets of my ire.

In the image below the ‘lady’ is supposedly standing in front of a bathroom mirror taking a photo of herself on a cellphone. Two questions: how did ‘she’ get into the room and how is ‘she’ to leave?

One more? How does the ‘lady’ below reach the stove?

Last one for today: When this thing (below) moves it’s hand from it’s hip, how many fingers will remain on the hip?

Good News, No New Light Bulb Rules !

There are 10 major environmental rules that Biden just pushed out the door.. Four of these will significantly contribute to the draining of your financial reserves. the other six are just going to make life difficult. They are:

1. Shifting to Electric Cars
The rule does not ban sales of gasoline-powered cars or mandate sales of all-electric vehicles, but by 2032 more than half the new cars sold in the United States would be zero-emissions vehicles, up from just 7.6% last year.

2.Slashing Power Plant Pollution
Requires existing coal plants reduce 90% of greenhouse pollution by 2039 and requires new natural gas power plants to reduce their emissions 90% by 2032.

3.Plugging Methane Leaks
Requires oil and gas producers to detect and fix leaks of methane that wafts into the atmosphere from pipelines, drill sites and storage facilities.

4.Raising the Price to Drill on Public Lands: Raises royalty rates and increases more than tenfold the amount of the bonds that companies must secure before they start drilling.

Other actions guaranteed to jack up prices and steal pennies from widows include:

5.Banning Asbestos: Bans chrysotile asbestos, the only type of asbestos still used in the United States,. The mineral is used in roofing materials, textiles and cement as well as gaskets, clutches, brake pads and other automotive parts.

6.Ending ‘Forever’ Chemicals in Tap Water: Requires municipal water systems to remove six synthetic chemicals currently present in the tap water of hundreds of millions of Americans. The new rule require that the public be notified if levels exceed a standard of 4 parts per trillion for perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl. Not 4 PP million. No, not 4 PP billion. We’re talking 4 parts per 1,000,000,000,000 .

7.Protecting Endangered Species: Protecting them from you, not from them. Gives federal officials more leeway to protect species in a ‘changing climate’, bring back protections for animals that are classified as “threatened” and clarifies whether to list a species must be made without considering economic factors.

8.Protecting the Alaskan Wilderness. Deep sixes a proposed 211-mile industrial road to a $7.5 billion copper deposit.

9.Chemical Plant Safety. Requires 12,000 chemical plants and other industrial sites nationwide that handle hazardous materials to explicitly plan for and invest in safety measures against disasters. (We knew this was delayed until members of the deep-state were able to acquire sufficient stock in said firms that produce ‘safety measures’.)

10.Permitting for Highways, Power Lines and Pipelines. Speeds up federal construction permits for clean energy projects while slowing down everyone else. Requires the feds to more heavily weigh damaging effects on the climate and on low-income communities before approving projects like highways and oil wells.

White house spokes-creature ended with an upbeat proclamation:

A Rant | Journalists and Nigerians

So here was the headline on Breitbart.

Intrigued, I took a look at how it was possible to significantly increase the number of consumers in a closed system and not simultaneously create growth (unless the production side of the equation was max’d out).

As in all things manipulative, success comes gaslighting your audience.  Changing the meaning of words helps bunches as well.  There is a lot going on with this article and I’m not going to get into any more than the first two paragraphs.   

First paragraph:  In a rebuke of the neo-liberal orthodoxy (1) which has dominated both major political parties in Britain, a study has found that mass migration has not actually stimulated the economy and has been a major drag (2) on public services and the housing sector.

  1.  When did one of the most meaningful characteristics of a free market (supply and demand) become ‘neo-liberal orthodoxy’?
  2. A ‘major’ drag would result in less available public services and more available housing.  Exactly the opposite is the case here: more people are availing themselves to public services and the demand for housing has gone through the roof.

Second paragraph A report from the Centre for Policy Studies (CPS) and co-authored by former immigration minister Robert Jenrick (1) finds record levels of immigration imposed upon the country (2) by the so-called Conservative Party — despite promising the public to reduce the influx of foreigners following Brexit — has not been correlated with an increase to economic growth per capita. (3) This report must have been ginned up for consumption in the US, as Jenrick is one of the least credible bog (think swamp) creatures in the UK.  God did not create enough electrons to get into all of this guy’s faults but through the magic of the interwebs we can link to the Wiki article.

And finally, here is where they are slipping the mickey to the simple minded masses:  ‘per capita’.  So, economic growth can be going like gangbusters, but ‘per capita’ income drops.  No shit!  If I add a buttload of low/no income folk to the equasion then ‘per capita’ income MUST drop.  The only way that it wouldn’t drop is if all of the immigrates (on average) immediately earned more than the population of Briton earned on average.

Just because I’ve become accustomed to being lied to by politicians, the news media, and auto repairpersons doesn’t mean I’m going to overlook it.   

Speaking of being lied to and hoodwinked, the entire nation of Nigeria must have established Facebook accounts.  Surely at least half of that nation has decided the path to riches flows directly from posing as a MILF or GILF.  Here are some examples:

These two creatures (what’s the proper term for an AI cartoon) are shown in the same setting with the one on the right demonstrating the buildings in he background a little larger. That’s something not possible given the setting. But there is also a problem:

It’s not just the fingers (left photo 6, right photo 4) that AI seems to have a problem with; it’s also the background (note the rail behind the creature on the right):

Almost every AI created image has a flaw of some type that your subconscious mind registers but you can’t quite figure it out without some conscious effort. A couple more to prove this point.

Sometimes, it’s more than just an added or deformed digit your mind sees, sometimes it’s an entire limb.

That’s my morning rant, time to check the fence lines. The most simple rule about raising cattle? They’re easier to keep up than they are to put up.

Piss Off and Vacate Yourself

The motion to vacate is the House’s procedure to remove the speaker. The current rules allow any one member, Democrat or Republican, to introduce the motion. If it is introduced as a “privileged” resolution, the House must consider it at some point, although it could be delayed with procedural votes. It only needs a simple majority to pass.

With R’s controlling the house by only one or two votes this means it only takes two or three malcontents to successfully remove the speaker, providing the D’s all vote to to toss him out as well (as they did with McCarthy)

My view is that these idiots the R’s have elected to office are to smart by half. That is to say they’re so stupid they would give away the keys to the kingdom just to get that rush that only the exercise of power provides.

We should have elected adults and problem solvers instead of characters of outrage and outrageous characters.

Two Observations

Firstly, I really don’t think that leadership within these many universities were ‘managing the encampments’. Nice to shift the blame from the protestors to the protested when you can get away with it though.

Secondly, I found these words in the articles narrative:

That narrative is longhand for ‘you’ve been stabbed in the back by your staff’. These institutions have gone so far left that they’ve began eating their own. . . and I’m OK with that.

So a boy who’s confused about why his genitalia defines him wants to compete against little girls. The school said the girls must compete against the boy. Here is how they dealt with it.

The board of education bans the girls from competition and called their actions discriminatory. Refusing to entertain the insanity means being banished from the herd.

So It goes to county court and they rule the girls can continue to compete, but they won’t stop the little gender confused one from playing along. They’re right back where they started.

This could have all been avoided if they had just thrown the shot put at the offending genitalia.

The only reason that Trump is staring down a NY jury right now is not because he is being called to task for some great transgression against society, it’s, as others have so eloquently stated, to keep him the limelight with his pecker out. As long as he can be painted in that light, and off of the campaign trail (where he is always on the offensive) then the prosecution can be considered a success.

They could give a fuck about the truth and they don’t care for the appearance of a fair and impartial judicial system. Which, once given a little thought, means they damn sure don’t give a fuck about you/me and/or our country.

Here’s the star witness:

No where in the annals of criminal justice can we find an accused stand trial where the primary witness for the prosecution is a notorious liar and scumbag.. One former Assistant U.S. Attorney states this about Cohen’s latest antics:
“It is not a problem for Cohen’s credibility because he has none — he is a convicted perjurer and fraudster whose current ‘defense’ of his fraud convictions is that he wasn’t telling the truth when he pled guilty. “

Cohen has decided that the best course of action he could take is produce a running commentary on the trial in order to generate revenue on his nightly ‘podcasts’. Here how bad that move is (enter Stormy Daniels’ scheming attorney Michael Avenatti) sitting in the damp cell of a federal prison.

“Never underestimate this guy’s ability to screw something up due to his ignorance and arrogance. He’s dumber than a box of rocks. The state can’t win the case without him and because of his conduct in reviewing trial testimony in violation of the court’s order, which [he] just admitted to when speaking with ABC, the court must strike him as a witness, declare a mistrial, or both. Thus sayeth that grand champion of the downtrodden; Michael Avenatti .

What does all of this mean to the collective ‘us’? It leaves us with broken institutions. For a couple hundred years the barbarians have been kept from the gates by good men who believed in the promise of America. Not the ‘earn an honest buck’ promise, but rather the quasi-equal playing field promise. These idiots have managed to snatch that away from us and we are left with the worst possible promise for the future: Powerful people are to be feared and all of the systems are rigged to benefit them alone.

Petty and Un-Endowed

The more radical R’s are running around shitting all over the commons because the Speaker blew off their threats.  Looks to me like Biden and the D leadership have offered him cover and any ‘Motion to Vacate’ will fail. 

I think the MTG’s and Gaetz’ of the world know this as well and won’t move that motion.  They will however retreat to the shadows of their lair and scheme anew.  To them it’s less about righteousness and more about power.

I may (or not) agree with the policy/funding decisions that were considered and passed.  Those are not the subject of this screed; the uncivil and mindless thumping by R’s and D’s is.  They (both sides) have turned the The Peoples House into a circus worthy of our ridicule. 

The petty grabs for power and overt intimidation(s) sprawled out before a nation of sheep.  70 percent of the population has bought into the we/they, R v D shit show and have so thoroughly socialized their R-ness or D-ness that they cannot retract for fear of being abandoned by their herd.

So MTG, along with her sycophant Gaetz, would be wise to heed the words of the accidental sage Zack Van:

“Bullying builds character like nuclear waste creates superheroes. It’s a rare occurrence and often does much more damage than endowment”.
