That Face

It’s been a while since Seth Rich, the 27 year old computer expert who worked for the DNC, was murdered – shot twice in the back without anything of value taken from him.  Rich was found alive and in shock before he bled out – his death ruled nothing more than a botched robbery.

Many believe Rich was a victim retaliation for being the source who provided Wikileaks with a trove of DNC emails. Rumors were fueled by the odd circumstances surrounding his death, the sudden retirement of D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier five weeks after the murder, and an email John Podesta sent to Hillary’s inner circle about making an example of a suspected leaker.

Truth time: Was Seth targeted for leaking to Julian?

How They Do It In Massachusetts

I’ve heard folk up that way called ‘masholes’ this insanity proves the nickname is well deserved. So the voters chose to recall the mayor, and then in the following election voted him back in. The stupid is strong with this group of winners.

FALL RIVER, Mass. – Embattled Mayor Jasiel Correia was re-elected on Tuesday, after a recall vote was held.

WPRI-TV reports that while most Fall River voters chose to recall Correia, he still ended up being elected back into office.

The 27-year-old Correia was arrested last October, on more than a dozen counts of wire fraud and filing tax returns.

The charges prompted a recall election on Tuesday, which followed a vote “no confidence” from the Fall River City Council. Organizers in November said they collected more than 4,000 signatures that called for Correia’s resignation.

Correia is accused of spending more than $230,000 collected from investors for an app he created. He’s facing federal fraud charges. Correia has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Earlier this month, Correia withdrew a request to repay investors.

WPRI reports that four candidates challenged Correia in the recall election: Councilman Joe Camara, School Committee member Paul Coogan, school administrator Kyle Riley and Director of Development for the South Coastal Legal Services Erica Scott-Pacheco.

Nancy Has Lost All Control

Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s opposition to impeaching President Donald Trump won’t stop a House vote on the issue, as Texas Democratic Rep. Al Green intends to force one again like he twice did when Republicans held the majority.

“I’m going to bring it the floor of the House again,” Green said Tuesday morning on C-SPAN’s “Washington Journal.” He declined to say when he plans to take action, saying, “The acid test is one that does not carry with it a specific date.” …

Green’s comments to C-SPAN about forcing another vote on impeaching Trump — the first with Democrats in the majority — comes after Pelosi told the Washington Post in an interview published Monday that she is “not for impeachment.” However, Green had already committed in a statement early last month that he would trigger a third House vote on the matter.

Just Because You Say It With Enthusiasm, Don’t Make It So

The Washington Post fact-checked Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s statements that President Trump has not transferred money to combat the nation’s opioid crisis and gave her three Pinocchios for the “highly misleading” remarks.

In a tweet on March 8, the freshman Democratic lawmaker criticized Trump for wanting to divert money via a national emergency declaration to build a wall on the southern border but did not take the same action over opioid overdoses.

“Amount President Trump has transferred from other agencies to fund his ‘Build the Wall’ Emergency: $10s of millions, & has identified billions more. Amount he’s transferred to address the Opioid National Emergency: $0,” she wrote in the tweet that was liked and retweeted nearly 50,000 times.

Ocasio-Cortez’s tweet was in response to a posting from C-SPAN that showed her questioning James Carroll, the White House director of drug policy, and linking the crisis at the border with the opioid epidemic.

“So, we’ve got two emergencies, one is treated with an actual action and the other is just to raise awareness,” C-SPAN quoted her as saying.

The newspaper’s fact-checker said she incorrectly compared two different situations.

And These Are The Folk That Want To Tell Us How To Live/Act

Actresses Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin were among more than 40 people charged in a nationwide college admissions cheating scandal that involved paying up to $6 million to place their children into elite universities, according to court records revealed Tuesday.

The scam — which involved placing students in top colleges such as Yale, Georgetown, Stanford, University of Southern California, UCLA and the University of Texas — was run by a man in California who helped parents get their children into the schools through bribes, court documents unsealed in Boston showed.

Big Tech. When Does This Crap End

From Breitbart (full article here)

Google’s senior director of U.S. public policy, Adam Kovacevich appeared to describe the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) as a “sideshow Circus,” in a leaked audio recording in which he also argued that Google should remain a sponsor of the conference to “steer” the conservative movement “away from nationalistic and incendiary comments.”

The comments came to light in leaked audio files allegedly of a company-wide meeting at Google, part of which is now exclusively reported by Breitbart News. Another part of the transcript was released last Friday on Tucker Carlson Tonight, while further snippets revealing Google’s funding of establishment conservative think-tanks were published by the left-leaning tech magazine Wired in December.

The alleged meeting took place in the wake of Google’s sponsorship of CPAC in 2018, which triggered an internal rebellion from left-wing employees of the tech giant. Breitbart News exclusively reported on the revolt at the time, in which radical left-wingers inside Google accused CPAC of “ethno-nationalism” and “hate.”

Oh Noes: Occasional Cortex’s Chief of Staff Moved $885,000 in Campaign Contributions Off The Books

Fox News is running with the story abut the FEC complaint asserting that Chakrabarti established two PACs, the Brand New Congress PAC and Justice Democrats PAC, and then systematically transfered more than $885,000 in contributions received by those PACs to the Brand New Campaign LLC and the Brand New Congress LLC — companies that, unlike PACs, are exempt from reporting all of their significant expenditures. The PACs claimed the payments were for “strategic consulting.”

OK, That’s Cool

Employees at the Hvaleyrarvöllur golf course in Hafnarfjörður (Iceland) arrived to an usual site on Friday, RÚV reports: naturally formed rolls of snow all over the frozen green.

According to meteorologist Óli Þór Árnason, such rolls form through a unique combination of specific weather conditions. On Thursday, he explained, it snowed, and then the temperature rose by one or two degrees and little drops of rain fell over the golf course. When that happened, the top layer of the snow got wet, right as the wind kicked up, and that’s how the rolls were shaped.

“It’s a bit of a coincidence—everything needs to happen at the same time,” he said. “[H]umidity and wind, in order for [the snow] to start rolling itself.”

Thank You Jim for Your Service: Good Riddance

For those of you that lament the departure of Jim Maddox as the Secretary of Defense, consider this: Maddox, in his resignation letter, touted his 40 years of ‘immersion’ in the geopolitical space and expertise as a warfighter. Given that nearly half of those 40 years (17 to be exact) were spent prosecuting, poorly I might note, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and in other sundry hellholes of the Middle East, he obviously has a limited toolkit and it is long past time that he moved into a domain he is better suited for. How many more of our brothers and sisters was he willing spend on this failed nation building insanity?

I’m being harsh, but he opened this can of worms….not me. Oh, and by the way, every American, regardless if they have served or not, has the absolute right to demand sanity in those things that are done in our name. I’ve spent more than 20 years in uniform, that 20 years buys me no greater voice than any other American. Every veteran understands what I just said, it’s time every American did too.

Rock Beats Scissors, Gun Beats Rock

I don’t mean to disparage folk from Slippery Rock, but what the hell were your founders thinking?

Y’all Yankees Stay Warm

A blast of cold air will bring one of the coldest Thanksgivings on record for some folk up in Yankee Land.  You folk try and stay warm.

A strong area of high pressure from the Arctic Circle will descend across Canada and into the Northeast, sending temperatures plummeting toward levels more common on New Year’s Day, not Thanksgiving Day.

High temperatures on Thanksgiving could be close to the coldest on record no matter what day of the month the holiday was celebrated. (Nov. 22, Nov. 24, Nov. 26, etc.).

New York City has only had three Thanksgivings dating to 1870 when the high temperature failed to rise out of the 20s, according to National Weather Service statistics. The coldest was a high of 26 degrees on Nov. 28, 1901.

Forecast highs Thursday could be near that all-time record-coldest high set almost 117 years ago.

The Next Ice Age is on The Way

That’s the warning from a Nasa scientist who fears sunspot activity on the surface of our star has dropped so low that it could herald the arrival of a uniquely grim mini Ice Age.‘We see a cooling trend,’ Martin Mlynczak of Nasa’s Langley Research Center told Space Weather.‘High above Earth’s surface, near the edge of space, our atmosphere is losing heat energy.

If current trends continue, it could soon set a Space Age record for cold.’Sunspot activity follows a cycle which is believed to last 11 years as the number of patches peaks and drops.

There have been very few spots on the sun for most of this year, meaning that it could be about to get very cold, very quickly.‘It could happen in a matter of months,’ Mlynczak added.

More Hell in California

Death toll in Northern California wildfire rises to 48: authorities

The Northern California fire has now killed 48 people as six more folk were reported dead overnight.

First responders are still searching for victims in Paradise while more than 5,000 firefighters are working to put out the fire that destroyed nearly 8,000 homes and forced 52,000 people to flee.

Of course all of this is Trump’s fault and there is widespread criticism for his comments about poor forest management as the root cause of the disaster.

California Now a Living Hell
